Overview
What is greater trochanteric pain syndrome?
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is a common condition describing a chronic, intermittent, aching pain localized over the lateral aspect of the hip [3,10].
GTPS can seriously decrease the quality of life, limiting the ability to perform full-time work. Lying on the affected side may affect sleep, whereas physical activity intensifies pain, making sports participation unbearable. This condition particularly limits athletes who have to rely on less demanding training programs or completely abstain from physical activity.
