What is Focused Shock Waves Therapy?

Focused Shock Wave Therapy is a non-invasive modality using high-energy acoustic waves delivered to a precise depth inside the tissues.

These shock waves induce specific biological responses that allow to:

  • Relieve pain by overwhelming C nerve fibers and inhibiting the release of Substance P.

How does Focused Shock Waves Therapy work?

DolorClast® Focused Shock Waves are generated using piezoelectric technology.

When activated, piezoceramic crystals emit acoustic energy simultaneously. This energy converges into a focused shock wave reaching deep tissue layers beneath the skin.

Each shock wave consists of two phases:

  • Compression phase (P+) creating high pressure and shear stress in tissues.
  • Decompression phase (P–) releasing energy and generating cavitation bubbles.

These physical phenomena are essential to trigger the biological responses associated with shock waves therapy.
